It was a fast finish for the 2nd annual Sunday Age City2Sea presented by Westpac in Melbourne today, with Michael Shelley crossing the line first in a record time of 41.02.

The event which saw more than 11,200 entrants, started with an ode to Remembrance Day, with veteran Peter Smith reading The Ode, and entrants had a minute's silence before editor of The Sunday Age Mark Forbes fired the starting gun.

More than $250,000 has already been raised for charities across the country, including official charity partner, Movember.
